Walking Routes Examples

These represent a sample of the variation of possible walking routes but may not be the actual walks used for any given series of 10. Any series of walks will be designed to suit the fitness and ability of the majority of participants.

Walk 1 –  Maulin Mountain (570 m), Enniskerry – Distance: c. 6 km. -Time: c. 2.5 hours.

This walk starts from Crone car park, Enniskerry. The route follows the Wicklow Way markers on a forest track to a point above the Powerscourt parkland, which looks down over the Powerscourt waterfall, and then out onto the base of Maulin (570 m) mountain. The views from Maulin summit include Dublin Bay and surrounds to the NNE, Tonduff to the west, Warhill to the SW and Djouce to the south! The decent, return, then follows the forest tracks, not on the Wicklow Way, back to the car park. A good beginners walk.

WALK 2 – Trooperstown Hill (430m), Laragh. Distance: c 7 kms. Time: c. 3 hours

WALK 3 – CIRCUIT OF GLENDALOUGH – Distance: c. 9 kms. – Time: c. 4 hours.

WALK 4 – Drumgoff – Cullentragh (510 m) – Mullacor (657 m) – Drumgoff. Distance: c. 13 kms. Time: c. 4.5 hours.

WALK 5 – Djouce Mountain (725 m): Distance: c. 13 kms. Time: c. 4 hours.

WALK 6 – Circuit of Laragh. DISTANCE: c. 15 kms. TIME: c. 5 hrs.

WALK 7 – Scarr Mouintain (overlooking Lough Dan, Roundwood) (641m). Distance c. 10kms. Time: c. 4 hours.

WALK 8 – Camaderry (698 m) – Turlough Hill (650 m) – Wicklow Gap – St Kevin’s Way – Finish. Distance: c. 16.9 kms. Time: 5 hours

WALK 9 – SPINK – MULLACOR (657 m) – DERRYBAWN RIDGE. DISTANCE: C. 13 kms. Time: 4.5 hours.

WALK 10 – Lugnaquilla (925m) – via Kelly’s Lough, Lough Glen – Corrigasleggaun  Mt. (794m) – return via Clohernagh Mt. (800m). DISTANCE:  c. 15 km. TIME:  c. 5 hrs.
WALK 11 – Croaghanmoira (667m) –  Distance: 10.1 kms – Time: c. 4 hrs.
